Engage with City Scholars and cultivate talent. 

TE 440 | Engineering City Scholars Course

Host City Scholars for a lecture on entrepreneurship and commercialization of new technology. This signature City Scholars class allows company partners to share their technology and engineering processes with students. All City Scholars students are required to participate.

  • Host in your office or guest lecture in our classroom at Discovery Partners Institute (200 S Wacker Dr.).
  • Feature a talk by a company executive and a tour of your facility.
  • Provide lunch for student attendees.
  • Class time: Thursdays, 10:30 a.m.-12:15 p.m.

Additional Engagement Activities

Enhance students’ understanding of Chicago’s tech community by hosting an optional outing. These partial group events can be hosted at your office or throughout Chicago. Students are required to attend three professional development events during their City Scholars semester.

Speaker Series Host a small group of students at your office for a tour, tech talk or networking session.

  • Event time: Wednesdays or Fridays, 2-2:30 p.m.
Small Group Dinner Host a small group of students at your office or a restaurant in the Loop with company executives focused on mentoring and networking.

  • Event time: Weekdays beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Cultural/Entertainment/Sporting Event Sponsorship Share your love of Chicago with City Scholars by hosting a visit to an iconic Chicago place or event. These group events help students discover and love living in Chicago long term.

  • We suggest holding events on weekdays after 5:30 p.m. or on weekends.
